Interxion Acquires Space for Further Growth in Frankfurt
« Posted: March 31, 2010, 05:10:11 PM »

•   New site in close proximity to Interxion Frankfurt data centre campus
•   Potential for major development following completion of FRA 6 facility, currently on schedule for Q3 2010
•   Accelerated acquisition and expansion programme reflects exceptionally high levels of demand from financial and carrier industry in Frankfurt

Interxion, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today announced that the company has acquired a new green field site in Frankfurt, along with putting power supply agreements in place to meet demand for high-density requirements in Germany’s central data hub. The move puts Interxion in a position to accelerate the expansion of its fast-growing data centre campus in Germany’s Internet capital.

The new site is located in eastern Frankfurt and has space for a 15,000m2 data centre facility. New data centre space developed on the site could double the space Interxion will operate in Frankfurt to over 30,000m2 of gross space when it completes its sixth campus facility, FRA 6, which will be ready for service in Q3 2010.

“Where demand is strong, we have the capabilities to accelerate supply to keep ahead of customer needs, and we are currently experiencing sustained demand in all of our key markets,” said Anthony Foy, Interxion Group MD. "In the German market in particular, our Frankfurt campus has an excellent reputation for operational expertise and efficiency, as well as exceptional carrier and ISP connectivity, and this is combining with broader pan-European trends to accelerate growth.”

“Forward planning is vital if you want to keep a few steps ahead of customer requirements in the current buoyant market,” said Peter Knapp, Interxion Germany MD. “While we have already accelerated the build-out programme in Frankfurt to meet customer demand, we may need to accelerate it even further. In the past months we have experienced a strong uptake in data centre demand, especially from the financial and carrier sectors.”

11,600m2 of the 55,000m2 of equipped space currently operated by Interxion was built in 2009 in response to sustained demand from customers and prospects. In addition to Frankfurt, new data centre space is currently being built and provisioned by the company in Zurich, Paris and Dublin.
