Interoute’s partnerships with Abiquo and NetApp recognised
London, 6th June 2013 – Interoute, owner operator of Europe's largest cloud services platform, announced today it has been awarded two ‘Business Service Innovation’ awards by Global Telecoms Business for Interoute Virtual Data Centre (VDC). The two awards won in partnership with Abiquo and NetApp respectively recognise the innovative level of control that VDC gives users and the scalable cloud storage solution Interoute and NetApp have launched to the enterprise and channel market.
Interoute Virtual Data Centre offers Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) from five data centre zones across different European countries and is built into Interoute’s pan-European MPLS/IP network. Thanks to this network integration Interoute VDC can be both private and public, and it enables Interoute to let customers transfer VDC data between these five zones for free. This gives businesses a cost efficient secure cloud infrastructure coupled with total control over where their data is hosted and how it’s accessed.
The hands on data centre like control that VDC gives users through its online console, was the focus of the first award. This award was won in partnership with Abiquo who contribute some of the orchestration capability that helps make this level of control possible. This ensures that when enterprises provision Interoute VDC infrastructure, appliances and storage, they have the flexibility to control their computing environment with just a few clicks.
Interoute won the second award with NetApp for the recently launched Interoute Scalable Storage service, a NetApp based cloud storage solution which runs on the Interoute Virtual Data Centre allowing customers to securely extend their storage capability into Europe’s largest and most secure cloud. This dedicated solution is available on-demand through the CloudStore, Interoute’s online enterprise application marketplace, and through channel partners, Value Added Resellers (VARs) and distributors such as Arrow Electronics Inc.
Presenting the awards at the ceremony, held on 4th June, Alan Burkitt-Gray, editor of Global Telecoms Business, commented: “This is the seventh time we’ve run our Innovation Awards and each year we’ve seen that the industry is working harder and harder to deliver exciting and innovative services to its customers worldwide. The industry is seeing a wave of innovation which is making a huge difference — to the companies working in the industry and to all of us in business and as consumers.”
Matthew Finnie, CTO at Interoute commented: “Interoute remains committed to helping enterprises and ICT partners across Europe make the most of the cloud. Interoute’s Virtual Data Centre sits at the heart of this vision, offering a service that provides the flexibility of the public cloud, whilst also delivering the robust security and performance of the private cloud. This is the fifth year we’ve won a Global Telecoms Business innovation award, testament to Interoute’s on-going commitment to ICT innovation. ”
