Interoute adds fifth Virtual Data Centre location to meet European IaaS demand

London, 28 January 2013 – Interoute, owner operator of Europe's largest cloud services platform, has expanded its Virtual Data Centre (VDC) into its Paris Data Centre. Interoute VDC is now available from five Data Centre zones: Paris, London, Amsterdam, Geneva and Berlin.

Built into the fabric of its pan-European network, Interoute’s VDC enables organisations to deploy virtual computing and storage infrastructure for their enterprise applications in a matter of minutes.

The addition of Paris to Interoute’s VDC platform extends Interoute’s ability to offer fully automated private and public cloud computing in more locations than any other provider in Europe. Not only does this allow organisations to comply fully with European data legislation, the Interoute VDC service offers organisations total flexibility between the five major cities across Europe in which the physical infrastructure is located. Interoute does not charge for transferring data between these locations or for connectivity to the VDC, meaning enterprises across Europe can truly leverage both the geographical and compute scale of the Interoute VDC.

Matthew Finnie, CTO of Interoute, commented:  “As cloud computing adoption rates soar, companies are looking for services which give them the same levels of control as if the infrastructure and applications were running within their own premises. Because Interoute’s VDC is integrated into Interoute’s own pan-European MPLS network, we can uniquely offer the integration of cloud services at the network level. With Interoute VDC, organisations across Europe have access to new compute resource, storage, back up, Disaster Recovery and a range of appliances. Moreover, these all appear securely, right within their own ICT platforms – with the data held in their choice of our five European VDC zones.”

Pierre Henri Tirloy, Head of Digital Production at Saatchi & Saatchi + Duke, said: "Interoute Virtual Data Centre has arrived just in time for Saatchi, as our latest e-marketing campaign involved staging interactive videos that require a lot of resources and which we knew would attract a big audience. The flexibility of Interoute Virtual Data Centre has allowed us to increase our capacity to support hosting of large data volumes as well as a large number of connections: 2.5 million visitors in just a month and a half.“

The Interoute VDC ‘pay as you go’ service makes it as cost effective as a public cloud, but with Interoute’s MPLS network infrastructure at its core, it also provides the security of a private cloud. Organisations have the choice of importing their own appliances, so migrating from a public cloud becomes a simple click, or use certified appliances from software stalwarts of the enterprise like Microsoft, Ubuntu and Redhat, to core appliances from Riverbed, Stonesoft and NetApp.

Organisations concerned with compliance to individual laws on data privacy across Europe can turn to Interoute with confidence. Interoute provides leading enterprises across the world with private cloud solutions to protect their critical data across all technology platforms. Interoute is also an approved IaaS provider for the UK Government’s G-Cloud programme and a member of the Cloud Security Alliance, which was formed to promote best practices for providing security within cloud computing.
