Interdean invests in people, process and systems to achieve best practice confidentiality
London, 16 September 2010 - Interdean International Relocation has been awarded ISO27001 security certification for data management systems. This achievement makes Interdean one of less than 500 companies in the UK and less than 7,000 globally to have achieved this international recognition for best practices in managing and protecting data.
The orthodox view, that protecting data and information assets is purely the role of the IT department, is changing. Organisations are now looking to appoint business owners such as HR for aspects of corporate and employee data -- taking the view that these departments, understanding the type and sensitivity of information, are better placed to make decisions around managing data risk.
Data leakage – from stolen laptops and USB sticks, to documents left on a train – has led to front page news and potential reputational damage for both public and private sector organisations. HR teams, eager to avoid punitive penalties from legal and regulatory bodies, are now reviewing the touch points and vulnerabilities of all aspects of employee data.
Managing and protecting the data held and transmitted during an employee’s relocation it is a global task. For example, a relocation contract for a German company may be initiated by an HR Service Centre in France requiring access to employee data stored on a computer in the UK and shared via an email server located in the United States. When managing data within this type of international infrastructure, organisations want to know that they are dealing with partners that provide the highest standards in data protection in order to meet their legal obligations and duty of care.
“As a leading global provider of relocation services, we understand that confidentiality of customer data is of the utmost importance. For this reason we have invested in the people, processes and systems necessary to become one of the small number of UK companies to achieve this international security accreditation. We hope that our achievement in this area of best practice will build even further confidence with the HR and business professionals we support,” says Dale Collins, CEO, Interdean International Relocation.
