BEA and Ingres Continue to Work Together to Offer Open Source, Mission Critical Solutions
Slough, United Kingdom, 6th September 2007: Ingres Corporation, the leading open source information management product and services company, today announced it has received certification from BEA for its BEA WebLogic® Server (WLS). The two companies have been collaborating in response to demands from customers who run critical applications using a combination of WLS and the Ingres database.
The BEA WLS is a fully featured, standards-based application server that is designed to provide the foundation on which enterprises can build reliable, scalable, and manageable applications. Ingres has been tested by BEA and can provide full transaction processing support including the important XA protocol essential for scalability in high volume transaction processing.
“I welcome this new milestone in our relationship with BEA,” said Roger Burkhardt, Ingres president and CEO. “This formal certification was requested by our customers and builds on years of effective interoperability between these products. We have customers who process over a billion dollars a day in transactions on Ingres and BEA WLS and these formal testing processes help us better serve all our customers who rely on Ingres and BEA for their mission-critical applications.”
The two companies continue to work together on areas of mutual interest including: virtualised environments and appliances, and real time and complex event processing environments.
“Ingres now offers their enterprise class database technology under an open source business model and we are glad to be able to respond to our mutual customer interest by formally certifying the Ingres database in conjunction with BEA WLS,” said Wai Wong, executive vice president, products at BEA Systems.
