HSL Announce Addition of 3G to 2.75G Femtocell
« Posted: April 15, 2008, 07:04:08 PM »

Edinburgh, Scotland, 15th April 2008

HSL (Hay Systems Ltd), an independent mobile network operator and provider of mobile services and equipment, have today announced their intention to add 3G capability to their 2.75G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE) femtocell.

HSL’s 2.75G Femtocell is currently under development and is expected to ship in volume towards the end of 2008. The addition of 3G support is expected to take place during 2009 and will bring to the market a femtocell capable of supporting both 2G and 3G mobile handsets.

Existing femtocells from other vendors typically provide 3G support only and are unable to support 2G-only handsets. Figures released by the GSM Association state 2G GSM mobile connections account for 80% of worldwide connections.
