London, UK - 27 April 2011 - HiSoftware, a provider of Web content and social computing compliance software, will sponsor the ‘Working Together' category for the first annual UK Technology4Good Awards. Created by AbilityNet, the Technology4Good Awards celebrate the hard work of the many charities, businesses and individuals across the UK who use digital technologies to help change communities for the better.
The Working Together Award category recognises projects where multiple partners have collaborated with the aim of supporting people with disabilities to get online. It is open to organisations from any sector that can show how good communication and collaboration has delivered a positive impact on people's lives through technology.
George Knox, Managing Director, International at HiSoftware commented, "Removing access barriers to the Internet has been central to HiSoftware's philosophy. Approximately 370,000 people are registered as blind or partially sighted and nearly 9 million people registered as deaf or hard of hearing in the UK. We are committed to providing organisations with automated software solutions that improve Website content accessibility to ensure all users can access and reap the benefits of Internet."
"Having partnered with AbilityNet in the past to deliver solutions for testing and monitoring content accessibility on many UK websites, it was an easy choice to sponsor the award that promotes strong partnerships for building successful accessibility projects. We are proud to be supporting AbilityNet to help bring best practices for accessibility to companies and organisations utilising the web, ensuring equal access to all."
Nominations are open until 5pm on Monday 9th May, with the winners announced at an Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 7th June. To submit an entry visit
