The stage is set for fireworks as Digital Leaders reveal their strategies and solutions at NextGen15 on November 5th

The UK’s broadband industry will come together in London for the country’s longest running next-generation broadband event, NextGen15 on the 5th of November 2015.

NextGen15 will link top down and bottom up perspectives, and will expand on the ‘need to know’ market education that has thus far eluded most Local Authorities and City funders. There are huge differences between Smart Cities and Intelligent Communities but both are dependent on future-proof broadband connectivity. From how to shrink the costs of civil works to understanding the vital role that proper broadband will play in economic growth by enabling, for example, Open Data. Specialists with real world experience will be on hand to explain the reasons why investment is both urgent and of no great risk.

There is a renewed understanding of the economic stakes and growing evidence that intervention is needed in the national interest. For sceptics (and the techno-agnostic) NextGen15 is set to deliver an all-star cast to deliver intellectual insight on the UK’s broadband prospects.

The opening keynote will be given by former Deputy Chair of Ofcom, Richard Hooper CBE and Richard Jones, CCO, Ventura Next will moderate the event. Delegates will also hear from Edgar Aker, President of the FTTH Council Europe and Barney Lane, Director of Regulatory Affairs at Colt who will contribute their vast experience to the proceedings. Looking towards the bigger picture, Anna Krzyzanowska, Head of Broadband DG Connect at the European Commission, will present an update on European Commission initiatives in Broadband Policy, Regulation and Financing.

Julia Glidden, President and Founder 21c Consultancy, will also join the agenda. Speaking ahead of the event, Glidden said: “We hear a lot about ‘open data’ – yet, even with high speed broadband, it isn’t always easy to grasp how you can open up data in order to solve problems and create value. We are pleased to be able to share our experience of working with over 140 communities world-wide, as well as NextGen15, on the challenges and opportunities that open data brings for the creation of innovative new data-driven solutions to urban challenges."

NextGen15 will feature a Trade Show with over 20 exhibitors showcasing new technologies and services for NextGen Broadband and all things digital.

There will be a special presentation ceremony to reveal the winners of the NextGen Digital Challenge Awards 2015 at the House of Lords, showcasing the best in next generation digital endeavour. The 2015 shortlist includes Ordnance Survey, DVLA, The States of Guernsey, Tinder Foundation, British Gas, CityFibre and Gigaclear.
