“G.fast set to deliver gigabit city performance for pressured service providers,” says ZyXEL

Creating exceptional user gigabit experiences over existing network infrastructures

January 6, 2016 – Hsinchu, Taiwan – Gigabit cities are opening up opportunities for service providers across the world, says Chris Chou, Vice President of CPE Business Center at ZyXEL. The explosion in the numbers of bandwidth-hungry applications and the increasing trend to create gigabit cities, where every consumer can achieve up to 1Gbps of broadband access, is putting extreme pressure on service providers to offer exceptional user experiences. The ease and simplicity of deployment and the low cost capital outlay makes G.fast the best solution for service providers.

The challenge of bringing fiber that last mile all the way to and into the home is a major issue for service providers, with deployment costs and right of way access to bring fiber to each resident being particularly problematic. As the demand for capacity rises in line with ever-increasing expectations for high speed services such as video, big data and cloud, customers are looking at service providers more and more to offer them the capacity that they want with the smallest amount of disruption.

“Affordable gigabit services are being made possible for operators of all sizes, due to G.fast,” says Chou. “G.fast gives service providers the opportunity to deliver the fiber-like speeds demanded by their customers over their existing copper infrastructure, allowing them to enhance their services whilst protecting their investment in copper.”

“Service providers are looking at ways to address the bandwidth issue proactively whilst ensuring that they continue to offer their customers exceptional user experiences and G.fast is answering service provider’s issues on a global scale,” says Chou.

With global IP traffic set to surpass the zettabyte (1000³ terabytes) threshold in 2016, and the two zettabyte threshold in 2019, according to a major study, finding the right solution to deal with these ever-increasing demands quickly and affordably is vital for service providers.
