- By 2017, 25% of organisations that need to deliver Windows applications to multiple devices will use a workspace aggregator
Gartner, the world's leading information technology research and advisory company, has just released its 2014 Market Guide for Workspace Aggregators, published on January 2, 2014.
Workspace aggregators are helping IT departments, and their end-users, support legacy applications, while embracing mobility and device diversity. They help consolidate management across PC, Web, and mobile applications and data - and allow effective delivery of resources to the right users on the right devices.
Gartner states that “By 2017, more than 60% of organizations will have to support Windows applications across multiple types of devices and 25% of organizations that need to deliver Windows applications to multiple devices will use a workspace aggregator.”
Gartner assessed six workspace aggregator products in today’s market which are representative of Gartner’s core five capabilities for effective workspace aggregation, one of which is Centrix Software’s WorkSpace Universal.
According to Gartner, the core capabilities are;
Application Delivery: The ability to orchestrate provisioning and de-provisioning of mobile, PC and Web applications
Data: The secure delivery of corporate data
Management: Management of application life cycle, metering and monitoring features
Security: Provision of context-aware security
User Experience: A superior user experience through the delivery of a unified workspace
WorkSpace Universal is a workspace aggregator that brings together legacy, physical, virtual and cloud applications and delivers them through a self-service interface to business users anywhere, on any device. It allows organisations to maximise existing investments while delivering end-user flexibility and choice, as well as providing single sign-on to cloud-based services and automated provisioning. IT departments are able to maintain visibility and control and determine policy-based access; ensuring that the right applications are launched at the right time to deliver optimal performance and user experience, while minimising costs.
Gartner’s report says that “At a minimum, vendors that offer products that we consider workspace aggregators today provide management frameworks to handle the delivery and life cycle management of Web, SaaS and Windows applications to PCs and mobile devices, on the basis of a set of context-aware policies.”
Lisa Hammond, Centrix Software CEO, commented, “We’re delighted that our WorkSpace Universal solution, which is already proven in organisations with thousands of end-user, has been included in the Gartner 2014 Market Guide for Workspace Aggregators. Coupled with WorkSpace iQ’s usage analytics data and metering engine, Centrix Software’s workspace management solutions are the key to transforming IT in the era of BYOD, CYOD, mobile and the Cloud.”
