Fujikura Research Points to Fragmented European FTTH Market
« Posted: August 18, 2011, 09:57:08 PM »

Fujikura Europe has announced it will be seeking additional distribution partners in what is a “diverse and fragmented” European market ahead of ECOC 2011 this September in Geneva.

The announcement by Fujikura, which is one of the world's leading manufacturers of communication and electronics products, follows an extensive internal analysis of FTTH in Europe.

Brian Leonard, European Product Manager for Fujikura, said the company will be seeking out new potential partners. He said the European market is very important as it is home to 860 million people and around 200 million households.

“Our findings clearly indicate that different regions in Europe are in vastly different stages when it comes to FTTH. We will particularly be looking to make contact with distributors in Eastern Europe where at present FTTH is more prominently deployed than FTTB,” he said. “We need to work with distributors and understand that we must make life easy for them to sell our products.”

The completion of the research comes just weeks ahead of ECOC 2011, the largest conference on optical communication in Europe and one of the most prestigious and long-standing events in this field worldwide.

At ECOC2011 Fujikura is exhibiting and will be sponsoring the FTTX New Product Zone. Here, the fibre optics specialist will be showcasing its new series of fusion splicer, the FSM-100M and FSM-100P, which it launched in July.
