The Federation Against Software Theft (FAST) has unveiled its latest enforcement initiative – its ‘Stay Legal’ viral campaign.
This latest initiative is directed at senior management within large corporations, as well as small to medium sized business owners, who have the legal responsibility to monitor and manage software estates to ensure compliance.
The viral – launched as an integrated campaign through YouTube, Twitter and Facebook this week - features a simple yet effective message: ‘Get control for the sake of your business.’
The viral ad itself lasts no more than 30 seconds and highlights the risks associated with using unlicensed or even pirated software in a clear and graphic way.
Alex Hilton, FAST, CEO, stated: “We wanted to convey a simple message for senior managers and business owners alike in a highly visual, easy to understand format, the risks inherent in using under-licensed or even pirated software programs. This is not just about the reputational risk you take if you are caught, it is about the business and operational risk you put your company under if that software program carries a rogue virus.
“This is a new initiative we are taking on behalf of our members, bringing the message that illegal software use is not just about complying with the law, to a new audience and through new mediums,” he added.
