London, 22 January 2013: Exterity, the leading provider of IPTV communication solutions to the enterprise and professional AV communities, today announces the launch of two new additions to its AvediaStream TVgateway line, the g4310 and g4315. The launch of these two products will enable customers to decrypt twice the number of channels with a single TVgateway blade than previously. As part of the Exterity integrated, end to end enterprise IPTV solution, AvediaStream TVgateways capture live TV and radio channels, making them available to end users, over an organisations existing IP network. The TVgateways will be demonstrated for the first time at the Exterity stand at ISE 2013 (Stand D72 in Hall 11), as part of the company’s live showcase of an Exterity end to end IPTV system.

TVgateways are ideal for organisations that require live TV and radio but do not want the added expense of a separate cable network solely for TV. They allow for the distribution of live broadcast SD and HD TV channels over an existing IP network.

Advanced decryption capabilities
The new AvediaStream g4315 TVgateway improves upon its predecessor, the g4215, by enabling customers to enhance their conditional access offering for less power and rack space. The g4315 includes a second Conditional Access Module (CAM) slot, which allows customers to greatly increase their capacity to decrypt scrambled DVB content. Up to 16 encrypted channels can now be decrypted simultaneously, twice the number of channels than previously.

The TVgateways also include advanced PID filtering capabilities, providing organisations with the ultimate in fine-grain control over audio, subtitles and other channel metadata on their network. Organisations can create multiple in-house channels in different languages from the same source or eliminate extra data traffic from their networks to make them more secure and conserve valuable bandwidth.

“There is a trend for broadcasters to protect more of their channels using encryption, so the addition of a second CA slot in a single blade gives businesses the chance to more easily adhere to the increasing restrictions that broadcasters are imposing on their content,” says Colin Farquhar, CEO of Exterity. “Exterity has a long history in providing functionally rich and reliable hardware, and these new TVgateways provide extra capacity without sacrificing on the granular control and efficiency features that the product line is known for.”

A reliable, effective upgrade
The new Exterity AvediaStream TVgateway products support DVB-S and DVB-S2 digital TV standards as well as a wide range of standard third-party CAMs to descramble encrypted channels. Their chassis and blade designs provide reliable, recyclable, modular solutions with low cooling requirements. Additionally, the availability of dual-tuner models provides more channels per chassis and lower cost per channel than competing designs. Both of the new TVgateways are hot swap blades, which allow for quick and non-intrusive upgrades to existing installations. Like all the Exterity IPTV devices on show at ISE 2013, they come with a wide range of management options including AvediaServer Director.
