Exterity Confirmed as Certified Partner for Crestron
« Posted: January 19, 2011, 10:05:53 PM »

Edinburgh, 19th January 2011: Exterity, the Building IPTV specialist, today announces that it has become an accredited Crestron partner. The alliance sees Crestron, the leading provider of room control and automation systems for homes, offices, schools, hospitals and hotels now able to fully integrate Exterity’s range of Building IPTV technologies into its offerings.

The Exterity AvediaPlayer, which can connect any television or AV display to an existing IP network to stream digital TV channels and other video sources, can now be controlled using Crestron Touch Panels.  The room control and comfort technologies can be accessed via a single standard interface with users also able to control the TV viewing experience too: change channels, play and pause VoD content, control volume and browse electronic programme guides from just one control device.

“As Building IPTV technology continues to move into the mainstream, organisations are increasingly realising the potential of utilising their existing IP networks to harness the power of TV and video for enhanced customer experience, improved employee productivity and new revenue streams,” says Colin Farquhar, CEO, Exterity. “By enabling Building IPTV to seamlessly integrate with Crestron’s room control systems, organisations can provide the users with a first class entertainment experience which is simple to operate but exceptional in functionality. In a crowded marketplace where the need to stand out is paramount, utilising a service like this can be help to make an organisation really shine against competitors.”

Farquhar concludes; “The continual advancement of enterprise technologies means that whether it’s schools, hotels, hospitals or offices, we have a plethora of different devices and services at our fingertips. The challenge now is making that equipment as accessible to users as possible. As such we are delighted to be partnering with Crestron to enable them to fully incorporate our Building IPTV technology into their market-leading room-control systems, giving users complete control of their entertainment experience at the touch of a button.”
