London, 11 June 2013: Global publisher Reed Business Information (RBI) has transformed its online presence in the Netherlands by selecting EPiServer CMS to power the websites for its key business and consumer titles. The migration of the initial 25 publications to the platform has been rapid, with the Elsevier B2C site up and running in just seven weeks and at a fifth of the cost of previous projects, which previously could typically take more than a year to complete.
Ideal for the publishing environment, EPiServer CMS has dramatically improved the customer experience and increased engagement across the key RBI Netherlands publications. Sign-ups have increased, as the in-house marketing team can upload content for paywall campaigns quickly and easily, ensuring content is relevant and targeted. Large, specialist publications such as Farmers Weekly now benefit from 35,000 registered visitors that actively engage with content behind the paywall every month.
The centralised CMS platform provides the flexibility to personalise the user experience and optimise the delivery of content across RBI Netherlands’ key online publications. Visitors are readily engaging with the sites, with one editorial title, Elsevier.nl, experiencing a dramatic impact when a simple change was made to the way content was presented, increasing time on site and the time spent reading articles by more than 25%.
The increase in conversions and user engagement has played a key role in growing advertising income. Repeat business is also on the rise, with many leading brands returning to RBI Netherlands to advertise as a result of its fresh, targeted approach to campaign and content delivery.
EPiServer CMS has also enabled RBI Netherlands to adopt responsive design, ensuring the sites adapt to user behaviour across multiple devices. This is particularly important as a quarter of visitors to RBI Netherlands websites already access these via a tablet.
Koenraad Bruins, Head of Product Development Business Communities, Reed Business Media Netherlands, commented: “EPiServer CMS is highly scalable and flexible and the ideal platform for a large publishing house. Content delivery is the core focus of our business and EPiServer ensures we can set an example for the industry, delivering personalised and optimised content that engages users and supports our marketing initiatives. We have strengthened a critical part of our business strategy with a scalable platform that supports our growth plans and an increasing appetite for news and information on-the-go.”
Maria Wasing, VP of Global Marketing, EPiServer, added: “For the media and publishing sector, the way content is presented and published is critical. The rich features of the EPiServer CMS ensure marketing and editorial teams managing multiple publications and sites in an enterprise environment can retain full, real time control of their online brands and provide personalised, engaging experiences across any device.”
The effective use of the EPiServer CMS by RBI Netherlands was recently acknowledged through a nomination at the Dutch Interactive Awards within the Best B2B platform category.
