Full Featured MES Delivers Real-Time Shop Floor Information; Integration with Epicor ERP Supports “Top-to-Shop” Connected Enterprise
Epicor Software Corporation, a global leader in business software solutions for manufacturing, distribution, retail and services organizations, today announced the growing customer demand for Epicor® Mattec - a best-in-class manufacturing execution system (MES). Epicor Mattec continues to gain traction with manufacturing organizations worldwide as a full featured MES standalone solution, and is creating new opportunities for Epicor as an integrated solution with its next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. A growing list of customers have selected Epicor Mattec to gain real-time information of their plant operations, including IMCO Carbide Tool Inc., Thermotech, Inc., Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. and Mayco International.
Epicor Mattec provides extended MES capabilities to measure, monitor and optimize production and manufacturing operations through real-time data collection, analysis and performance tracking whether in a single facility or across a globally distributed enterprise. Epicor Mattec helps customers reduce scrap, waste and machine downtime, improve cycle times, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), plant productivity and automatic part qualification, and schedule production effectively.
IMCO Carbide Tool Inc. is one of the newest customers to adopt Epicor Mattec MES alongside Epicor ERP. IMCO Carbide Tool specializes in manufacturing tungsten carbide end mills among other high-performance cutting tools for a variety of applications in the aerospace, automotive, medical, petrochemical and manufacturing industries. “All of our grinding machines are connected to Epicor Mattec which allows us to see in real time what’s happening on the shop floor,” says Perry Osburn, president, IMCO Carbide Tool. “Epicor Mattec helps us to improve cycle times and OEE, and schedule production effectively.”
A significant strength of Epicor Mattec is its ability to work in harmony with Epicor ERP to help customers drive even greater “top-to-shop” business and manufacturing efficiencies. Epicor Mattec feeds data to Epicor ERP to create a single, real-time version of the truth and enables everyone throughout the business to know what’s going on at all times.
Thermotech®, Inc., a multi-national plastics components manufacturing company with more than 1,200 employees worldwide, is gaining the benefits from the complementary Epicor offerings. The company services and produces components for a number of industrial and consumer sectors, including automotive, aerospace, med tech and telecommunications. Based in Minnesota, Thermotech has eight operating facilities and has been an Epicor customer since 1999. Recently, Thermotech created a vision and strategy to integrate its Epicor ERP and Epicor Mattec systems to build a single point for data collection and analysis that will enable them to improve their operational efficiencies.
“Looking ahead, we plan to integrate all of our plants and machines worldwide to a central data aggregation system that gives us real-time information to measure performance, from up time and down time to key operating metrics,” says Matt Mahmood, chief operating officer, Thermotech. “Our vision is to have our entire systems connected to give us better visibility to our operations.”
“Epicor Mattec enables our customers to leverage a trusted and proven solution, delivering robust MES capabilities that manufacturing organizations increasingly need,” said Malcolm Fox, vice president, product marketing, Epicor. “Epicor Mattec has allowed us to expand our reach into new vertical markets, including process manufacturing, as well as extend the solution to customers looking to integrate their Epicor ERP solution with Epicor Mattec to build a ‘top-to-shop’ connected enterprise.”
