DSL Forum Honours Yue Chen Of Juniper Networks - Driving Standards Growth And Education In Asia
17 September 2007 - Yue Chen, corporate systems engineering manager with Juniper Networks, has been presented with the DSL Forum Circle of Excellence award in recognition of his drive and leadership in developing the Forum’s Asian outreach programme.
Yue, the newly named marketing committee chair for the DSL Forum, received the award at the Forum’s quarterly meeting in Nashville. A member for five years, Yue has played a strategic role in developing greater Forum awareness in the Asian region.
Asia continues to be one of the fastest growing regions, in terms of broadband, in the world and the DSL Forum has launched an initiative to ensure that providers and manufactures in the region have the latest broadband specifications from the Forum. The Forum also focused on engaging the thought leadership from the region, to get direction in many key areas including IPTV and management of the digital home.
Yue initially helped the Forum launch the initiative and provided regional insight into the market. He has gone on to represent the Forum at regional conferences in and around Asia and helped the Forum develop the program for its first meeting in China. With his leadership, the DSL Forum has greatly expanded and enhanced membership numbers in the region, which now counts 14 percent of the DSL Forum’s members, including most of the major service providers in the region.
Also, as the DSL Forum Ambassadors Chair since 2005, Yue worked to establish the Ambassadors programme, which is designed to promote the Forum and provide education on broadband technology through speaking engagements and other activities.
George Dobrowski, chairman and president of the DSL Forum, says: “Yue’s insight into the Asian market has proven to be very valuable to the DSL Forum. His strong broadband knowledge and excellent communication skills, in both English and Chinese, have helped drive standards education and adoption deeper into Asia. The Circle of Excellence Award is given to those individuals who have shown exceptional skill or have provided a significant contribution to the DSL Forum’s work and future. The award, which is nomination driven, has been presented at the Forum’s quarterly meetings since 2000. Representatives from around the world have been recognized for their leadership in the development of interoperability and management standards; their contribution to the strategic development of the Forum; and their commitment to the committees that ensure the Forum’s continued success.
