Derdack (www.derdack.com), provider of enterprise notification software today announced that the INSPIRE Enterprise Notifications Conference highlighted the critical role of automated notifications as a lead application of communication-enabled business processes (CEBP). Key trends identified at the conference included IT automation and compliance as business drivers behind uptake of notification systems. Additionally there is growing demand for automated notification systems within a cloud-based IT infrastructure as they shorten the response time to critical situations that have an impact on the availability of cloud services.

Matthes Derdack, CEO of Derdack said, “One of the major reasons why there is increased interest in enterprise notification software as a CEBP application is that ‘fire and forget’ or manual alert notifications result in unacceptable levels of risk of interruption to business continuity and service availability. Advanced notification systems in contrast allow seamless integration of multiple monitoring systems into a centralised notification hub which can prevent ‘notification confusion’ while enabling delivery tracking, automated escalations and audit trailing.”

Speaking at the INSPIRE Enterprise Notifications Conference, PAC Berlecon Analyst Dr Andreas Stiehler said, “Unified communications (UC) are an important element of CEBP but its full potential will only be realised if all systems are fully integrated as part achieving true business process automation. Notification systems underpin CEBP but we are only in the early stages of market adoption. The business case for notification systems is very strong in a number of areas including IT monitoring, production & manufacturing and disaster management. Therefore I expect to see adoption accelerate over the next two years as awareness of the benefits of automated notifications increases.”

IT automation and compliance are becoming major drivers behind uptake of notification systems. The ability to be alerted in real-time to any situation that requires attention from an appropriate and responsible person is fast becoming a necessity for companies that rely on high levels of systems availability.

The penetration of cloud computing has also seen a move towards ‘infrastructure-as-a-service’. However automation of complex IT processes is required for the cloud computing model to work effectively. As more companies outsource their IT infrastructure to cloud-based suppliers, the need to efficiently manage business processes and ensure system availability will become paramount.

The INSPIRE Enterprise Notification Conference organised by Derdack and held in Berlin also featured an award for the best implementation of a notification system. The winner was StorTech, a leading South African managed services organisation which has deployed Derdack’s Enterprise Alert integrated with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager. It acts as a real-time notification system which enables the company to react to, and resolve any IT issues before it can impact on service availability for customers.
