Crytek Operates Online Media Platform at Interxion Frankfurt
« Posted: August 11, 2011, 09:01:13 PM »

FRANKFURT 11 August 2011 – INTERXION HOLDING NV, (NYSE: INXN), a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today announced that Crytek GmbH has chosen Interxion’s Frankfurt data centre to host its online Media platforms.

Crytek, one of the world's leading independent development studios for interactive entertainment, has chosen Interxion’s Frankfurt facility to house its company web presence, including its corporate website, community website mycrysis.com,  its new community “modding” portal crymod.com and an internal test platform. It is also planning to roll out its mycryengine.com portal, which is exclusively dedicated to CryENGINE licensees.

The online gaming market continues to grow unabated with a recent Gartner reports stating that during 2010, consumers spent $67 billion on gaming and they predict that by 2015, spend will have increased to $112 billion, with online games, such as popular social network games like Farmville and Cityville, showing the biggest growth over the next five years.

As a provider of interactive entertainment, Crytek is required to distribute its premium content in various formats to different end-user devices uninterrupted and in real-time. As a result, they not only require a facility that delivers world-class uptime, but also offers outstanding connectivity.

Interxion’s state-of-the-art data centres act as content hubs, which represent the ideal environment for effective aggregation, storage, exchange, management, transcoding and distribution of premium digital media content. Content owners can obtain direct, in-house cross connects to all necessary IP distribution networks for the optimised delivery of their content, including Tier 1 ISPs, Access Network Providers, Internet Exchanges and CDNs.

“Particularly for the provision of real-time content for premium online game ‘Crysis’, it is important to make sure the end user can enjoy an undisturbed, failure-free experience. Due to the high network density, Interxion’s data centre campus is particularly suited to support these requirements. Its comprehensive choice of networks makes us independent from a single carrier, and we can benefit from low latencies, high service quality and bandwidth savings when compared to other locations,” said Avni Yerli, Managing Director of Crytek.

“We look forward to welcoming Crytek as a new customer. Our Content Hubs represent the ideal environment for the operation of Crytek’s platforms. Due to the high network capacities in our Frankfurt data centres, we are also able to easily implement additional platforms,” said Peter Knapp, Managing Director of Interxion Deutschland GmbH.
