Computacenter advises how to embrace the new normal

Computacenter speaks at RSA’s First Data Security Summit on 22nd April

UK, London 19 April 2013: Computacenter, Europe’s leading independent IT supplier, urges organisations to embrace the ‘new normal’ as a result of a shifting cyber landscape. Threats such as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) and Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs) are challenging traditional security methods and are forcing CISOs to evolve from perimeter-based approaches into a new, sophisticated kind of security.

James Naylor, Security Specialist at Computacenter, has over 20 years experience in IT and 10 years focused within IT security. He aims to highlight the challenges involved in changing businesses’ perspectives on new security methods at RSA’s First Data Security Event on 22nd April.

“The threat landscape has changed dramatically over the last three years and businesses need to adopt more sustainable security approaches,” says Naylor. “The rise of new mobile technologies, cloud computing and big data has resulted in a new headache for the CISO, and methods, like firewalls, aren’t enough to protect these complex environments. Instead, organisations must look at authentication, encryption and other defensible approaches to take a proactive approach to security and embrace the New Normal.”

The RSA event, which aims to address UK data security from a range of perspectives such as security breaches and analysing risk, is the first of its kind. It is expected that there will be a total of 400 attendees, including those from the channel, enterprise and non-enterprise and will discuss the various ways in which IT security is adapting.

With the volume of data in the world doubling every two years and less than 20 per cent of it is protected, according to the EMC-sponsored IDC Digital Universe study[1], the event will also address the importance of intelligence-driven security strategies and the power of big data analytics.

Computacenter offers a vast range of security solutions, including everything from protection against DDoS attacks to implementing firewalls and from external pen testing to complete security strategy reviews.
