CloudSigma CEO to Offer Solutions to Media Industry’s Public Cloud Security Concerns at SMPTE 2013 Annual Technical Conference & Exhibition
PALO ALTO, CA – October 15, 2013 – CloudSigma, an international, customer-centric, pure-cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) provider, today announced that its CEO, Robert Jenkins, has been chosen to speak at the SMPTE Annual Technical Conference for the second consecutive year. Looking at the latest advancements in public cloud technology for the media and entertainment industry, Robert will discuss new private patching capabilities and the security and efficiency benefits they offer media companies. The session, Private Patching in the Cloud: Offering the Media Industry a Mind of Its Own, will be held Thursday, October 24 at 9:30 a.m. PDT in Salon 1 of the Ray Dolby Ballroom at the Loews Hollywood Hotel.
The public cloud’s collaboration, scalability and flexibility benefits have offered a solution to media service providers’ issues of varying data volumes, unique workflows and dispersed production locations. But, despite these advantages, security fears have kept many providers grounded in their on-premise environment, thanks, in part, to concerns that sensitive data would be traveling over a public IP. However, private patching is changing the way media providers engage with the cloud, allowing them to directly connect their dedicated infrastructure into private networks within the public cloud. As such, not only is public IP usage avoided altogether, but media service providers reap additional productivity and cost benefits such as faster data access and higher throughput performance.
Combining private and public environments securely opens the door to effective hybrid cloud deployment models for the media industry. The session will explore in detail a number of emerging hybrid cloud deployment models particularly suitable for media industry requirements.
