Cloud World Forum Drives Cloud for Enterprise and Healthcare

London, 19 May 2014 – The landscape in which enterprises implement and run their operations and applications has seen a huge shift, as a large number of businesses continue to migrate to the cloud. This trend is now being followed by the healthcare sector, where an increasing number of health services have adopted the cloud in a bid to improve care services, reduce costs and improve revenue cycle control. Subsequently this year’s Cloud World Forum conference and exhibition will look at the cloud trends and issues affecting the enterprise and healthcare sectors.

According to research by MarketsandMarkets[1], they found in 2013 that 20.5% of the healthcare industry adopted cloud services, with a predicted $5.4 billion to be spent on cloud computing in the sector by 2017. This is still far behind the private sector businesses, which, according to IHS[2], will spend around $174.2 billion on cloud this year alone.

Cloud World Forum includes a top line-up of speakers across the agenda from both the enterprise and healthcare sectors. Day One will see John Mclean, CTO Europe, IBM, provide a presentation on cloud as a growth engine for business along the Future Cloud track. He will offer insights into how IBM help companies effectively design, deliver, and consume cloud services to transform their business.

John Mclean, CTO Europe, IBM, said: “Companies that are effectively applying disruptive technologies like cloud computing are out-manoeuvring their competitors, delivering new products and services to the market more quickly, driving new economics, and transforming entire industries and business models in the process. IBM has helped thousands of its customers to realize the benefits of adopting the cloud. Cloud World Forum is a great platform for us to share our experiences.”

On Day Two, a panel discussion will look at the cloud characteristics enterprise end-users focus on when deciding a provider. The panel will consist of, Darragh Kennedy, Online Platform Manager, Lonely Planet, Michael Bischoff, CIO, Betfair, and Mario Mueller, CTO, BMW. They will discuss performance, the uptime and availability of cloud services, the importance of interface and design, and explore the application programme interface.

Joanna Smith, CIO, Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, will talk about the trust’s plans to transform its past information technology plays to enable the Trust to be successful, talking about the challenges and opportunities of cloud deployment, on Day Two.

This year’s event will once again see the leading Cloud vendors gather to exhibit their latest solutions on the show floor, including: Microsoft, Google, Telstra Global and HP. The Forum also features an exclusive C-level keynote Future Cloud theatre with CIOs and CTOs from leading end-users, such as: Coca Cola, UEFA, BBC, BMW, Marks & Spencer, UBS, CERN and Lufthansa.

The Cloud World Forum will take place on 17-18 June 2014, at the Olympia National, London, UK. As EMEA’s largest and most comprehensive Cloud event it boasts an impressive agenda, with more than 240 speakers participating from 74 countries.
