Clio whitepaper offers guidance to law firms that are considering a Cloud practice management platform

A basic where to start and what to consider for European legal professionals

IRELAND – Tuesday 19th November 2013 – Themis Solutions Inc., the creator of Clio, a Cloud-based case management platform for SME sized legal practices, has released a new whitepaper to provide guidelines for European legal firms that are considering a Cloud Practice Management platform.

The Clio whitepaper, ‘European Cloud practice management – where to start?’, examines a number of elements such as the benefits of Cloud practice management systems, questions to ask a prospective Cloud supplier, and local compliance, privacy and regulatory issues that must be taken into consideration.

Nagib Tharani, International Director at Clio comments, “With Cloud computing dominating the headlines, European law firms continue to be attracted to the benefits of using this type of platform to increase collaboration and to access documents securely when on the move. Increased cross border activity has also meant that legal professionals now want to work seamlessly across teams. Our whitepaper highlights key points to examine when making this important decision.”

According to business analysts Gartner, the cloud-based services market is forecast to grow 18.5 percent in 2013 to total $131 billion worldwide.[1] Adoption of Cloud Computing is also picking up momentum within the legal sector as recent figures suggest that 44% of law firms were “in favour of the idea” and yet equally 46% of law firms were opposed to using Cloud Computing[2].

Tharani adds, “Security and privacy are two of the biggest reservations expressed by law firms considering a move to the Cloud. This is because security risks are of paramount concern, since legal professionals are duty bound by the ethical obligation to maintain client confidentiality. Cloud-based Platforms such as Clio offers addresses these issues and it delivers a cost effective and secure platform that adheres to local regulatory and privacy laws.”
