February 1st 2011 - PoINT Software & Systems GmbH demonstrates the latest versions of its well-established software solutions at this year’s CeBIT. The highlight at the PoINT CeBIT booth (hall2, booth B23) is PoINT Storage Manager 3.0, which integrates Cloud Storage reasonable into the existing IT-Storage Infrastructure. Furthermore PoINT shows the latest version of PoINTArchiver, which offers a traditional HSM functionality for tape and optical, and PoINT Jukebox Manager 7.1 supporting the new 100 GB BDXL technology.

PoINT Storage Manager includes Cloud Storage
The well-proven software solution PoINT Storage Manager, which connects different local storage technologies (RAID, Tape, Optical) to a unique tiered storage architecture, will be presented in its latest version 3.0 at CeBIT 2011. Furthermore PoINT will demonstrate how cloud storage services can be integrated reasonable in the existing storage infrastructure. PoINT Storage Manager implements a three tiers architecture (Performance Tier, Capacity Tier und Archive Tier) and migrates data automatically according definable rules. Thus data is stored where it is reasonable and necessary. The storage cloud is integrated homogenous in the archive tier and supplements the existing storage infrastructure. The new version comprises a new simplified licensing model, which is mainly based on the administrated data volume and is independent from the supported hardware.

PoINT Jukebox Manager with 100 GB BDXL support
PoINT Jukebox Manager is planned as intelligent middle-ware for optical jukeboxes and offers native file system access to this device class. This applies also for the new BDXL technology, for which first devices will be available soon in Europe (devices, jukeboxes). Users who would like to start with 50 GB BD technology or who already implement this technology, can upgrade easily to 100 GB BDXL and this is also backward compatible.

PoINTArchiver 5.0 offers HSM functionality for Tape and Optical
PoINTArchiver offers traditional HSM functionality for tape and optical based storage systems (Single Drives, Loaders, Libraries). The new version supports now the new LTO-5 tape technology and optical jukeboxes (incl. 100 GB BDXL). Therefore media technology and device classes can be chosen by users and their archiving demands can be fulfilled according to their requirements. By implementing PoINTArchiver the user is able to benefit from the versatile advantages of removable media and of the corresponding storage systems. The licensing model is based on the supported hardware; e.g. the license fee is independent from data volume and from the quantity of on- and off-line media.

PoINT Publisher NG offers Load Balancing
PoINT also presents the latest version of PoINT Publisher NG. The software solution for professional CD/DVD and Blu-ray production includes in the latest version 3.1 an intelligent load-balancing incl. fail-over functionality.
