FRANKFURT, 6 June 2011 –
INTERXION HOLDING NV, (NYSE: INXN), a leading European provider of
carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today announced that Cable&Wireless Worldwide, one of the world's leading mission critical communications providers, has extended its Interxion data centre collaboration. Cable&Wireless Worldwide operates Points of Presence (POPs) in Interxion’s data centres alongside its own estate, ensuring resiliency for its next-generation network across Europe.
The Cable&Wireless Worldwide multi-service platform, running over its next-generation network, is especially suited for multinational enterprises with European branches that require applications for VoIP, IP-VPN solutions, managed IT security services, video conferencing and performance management. The platform is also available for use by media and financial organisations, allowing them to benefit from resilient, ultra-high-performance and high-speed infrastructures for their business models.
In order to provide resiliency for its customers’ applications, Cable&Wireless Worldwide relies on Interxion’s high-availability data centres providing best-in-class technical infrastructure and services throughout Europe alongside its own estate, securing unprecedented bandwidth options, low latencies and energy capacity for high-density configurations. In addition, Interxion’s facilities offer direct access to 20 Internet exchanges, representing the busiest content aggregation and exchange centres in Europe. For customers requiring multi-site colocation in Europe, Interxion provides a single Service Level Agreement that applies across its entire footprint, supported by the European Customer Service Centre, a multi-lingual, single-point-of-contact network operations centre.
“IT-based collaborative applications are our core business. They enable our customers to globally connect their employees so that all their branches can work together with high levels of efficiency, thereby driving down costs. By using our multi-service platform, our customers can consolidate their telecommunications and data infrastructure while, at the same time, reduce their costs by centrally managing new applications. Interxion meets our needs, thanks to their pan-European reach, high-performance, resilient and highly connected data centre infrastructure,” said Nic Cantuniar, Head of Carrier Services Europe, Middle East and Africa at Cable&Wireless Worldwide.
“Low-latency streaming of high-bandwidth applications requires not only a resilient data centre infrastructure but also direct access to all relevant communication networks and Internet exchanges. Our scalable data centres allow customers like Cable&Wireless Worldwide to deliver the capacity and flexibility needed for excellent and energy-efficient IT infrastructure services and to continuously extend their infrastructure platforms across Europe,” says Peter Knapp, Managing Director, Interxion Germany.
