Buffalo Technology Achieves the Consumer NAS Market Leader Position for the Sixth Year Running

London UK, 16 May 2011 - Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of storage and wireless networking solutions, is today announcing that it has retained the number one spot in the Consumer Network Attached Storage (NAS) market for the sixth consecutive year, according to analyst house, In-Stat.

In-Stat’s latest report, Worldwide Consumer Network-Attached Storage reveals the 2009 and 2010 market share positions of the top 10 consumer NAS vendors. It confirms Buffalo’s continued market lead ahead of competitors Western Digital, NETGEAR and Seagate.

According to the In-Stat report, the consumer NAS market will grow at an annual rate of 36.4% between 2010 and 2015, signifying a steady period of growth in NAS for several years to come.

Paul Hudson, Sales Director for Northern Europe at Buffalo Technology says: “Once again Buffalo has demonstrated its market leading position; we are absolutely delighted to receive recognition of this status for the sixth consecutive year. Buffalo strives to develop and deploy products for both the consumer and the SMB that deliver a rich customer experience. To maintain our market leading role in a market that grew over 30% last year is a significant achievement and we would like to thank all our channel partners for their commitment.”

In-Stat’s research found that:

• Simplifying system setup and ongoing management is still the key factor to increasing market adoption

• Worldwide consumer network-attached storage (NAS) unit shipments grew by 30.3% in 2010

• Market share for the top five vendors increased from 54.4% in 2009 to 62.8% in 2010
