AppFirst Offers Server Monitoring Solution Free to Users
« Posted: November 10, 2010, 06:53:53 PM »

Solution is First Step in Complete Visibility into Server and Application Slowdowns

NEW YORK – November 10, 2010 – AppFirst, the only provider of real-time data collection and proactive monitoring as a service (MaaS) solutions, will be giving their server monitoring solution, AppFirst Basic, away for free starting November 10, just to make a point.  The point is, server monitoring solutions have been available for years, yet to this day applications still crash and performance can slow to a crawl, generating calls to IT from irate users.  Because companies don’t have the option of NOT using a server monitoring product, they continue to buy products -- including the “new cloud monitoring tools”, which use the same methods of collecting data that have failed them in the past.

These methods are based upon interval or polling data collection, which, by their very nature, means incidents are missed, and IT staff are unable to respond until it’s too late.  AppFirst Basic provides complete data collection, ensuring IT misses nothing.  The solution gives them complete insight into what is happening on their servers so they won’t be surprised by performance problems or applications going down.

“Server monitoring solutions today are really based on your grandfather’s technology,” says David Roth, president and CEO of AppFirst.  “The names and prices have changed, but the capabilities haven’t, so why would you want to pay for that?  To offer any effective product or service that requires any type of computing power, you have to be able to guarantee your system is running at peak performance all the time.  And, if it’s not, you need to know before the customers start complaining AND you need to know exactly what the problem is.  We are confident that users will see the distinct benefits of AppFirst’s solutions.”

Software is critical to today’s businesses.  For IT departments that means clear insight into their application performance, along with the ability to drill into the root cause of the problem.  AppFirst delivers better server monitoring for free, for physical, virtual and cloud servers.  With AppFirst technology, users can easily move forward to a true solution -- application infrastructure monitoring that is proactive.  The company’s recently unveiled Deterministic Root Cause feature delivers alerts to users that identify the exact server where an issue is occurring, the process on the server causing the issue and what specifically the process is doing to disturb the performance of the application. By automating the formerly manual process of searching every tier of an application and every layer of the IT infrastructure to identify the source, hours, days and even weeks of time resolving performance issues are eliminated.
