18 April 2012: Cambridge Wireless has announced that Andrew Gilbert, Executive Vice President, European Innovation Development at Qualcomm, will be speaking at the fourth Future of Wireless International Conference 2012 in June. With the theme of the conference focused on ‘Reshaping of the Mobile Industry’, Andrew Gilbert will speak about innovation, identifying the issues around the balance of two speed innovation cycles.

Andrew Gilbert is the latest addition to an impressive line-up of speakers at the Conference on 26 and 27 June including Olaf Swantee, CEO at Everything Everywhere, Paul Taylor, Engineering Manager at Google, Matthew Postgate, Head of R&D at the BBC and Professor Christopher Lowe from the University of Cambridge. Over 300 senior international wireless industry executives will be attending the Conference to discuss the degree to which the mobile industry is being reshaped by the ‘over the top’ (OTT) web and digital media brands, and to what degree this impacts the nature of innovation

“It is my pleasure to once again be speaking at this prestigious Cambridge Wireless event,“ said Andrew Gilbert. “The wireless industry is multi-faceted and continues to challenges us every day – while rewarding those companies that have the vision and tenacity to succeed.”

“We are delighted that Andrew Gilbert will be addressing the Conference and are grateful for Qualcomm’s sponsorship and support for the event,” said Dr Soraya Jones, CEO at Cambridge Wireless, the leading independent wireless business and technology community. “Qualcomm has always been at the forefront of innovation and will play a vital role in the re-shaping of the wireless industry as it adapts to meet new challenges and harness exciting new opportunities.”

The 2012 Future of Wireless International Conference will take place at The Møller Centre and Churchill College Cambridge and will reflect every part of the wireless value chain. Other speakers at the conference include Rory O’Neill, Vice President of Software and Services EMEA, RIM; Andy Hudson, Head of Spectrum Policy, Vodafone; Jim Maynard, President, Wavefront, Canada; Vincent Korstanje, VP Segment Marketing, ARM; Brian Roberston, Associate Director, Broadcom; Dr Jo Butler, Director of Spectrum Technology, Ofcom; Rupert Cezalet, Head of Public Affairs, Airwave Solutions; Ray Anderson, CEO, Bango and many more. The ‘Cambridge Debate’ at the end of the conference will be chaired by Peter Day, Business Correspondent, BBCNews, BBC.

The conference will also include exhibition zones along with hands-on workshops, facilitated brainstorms and plenary sessions. Next generation wireless start-ups will be showcasing their innovative ideas in the Start-Up Zone and the five winners from the Cambridge Wireless Discovering Start-Ups 2011 competition will pitch to the full conference at the Innovation Hothouse.
