Alchemy Solutions Announces Concurrent Releases of NeoBatch V3, NeoKicks V3 and NeoServices V4.2
Customer feedback, and support for Visual Studio 2010 yield new features and greater operational management tools
BEND, Oregon, May 25, 2010 –Alchemy Solutions, Inc., (
http://www.alchemysolutions.com/) provider of legacy modernization solutions, today announced significant upgrades to three of its modernize-as-you-migrate products. In addition to supporting Visual Studio 2010 and the latest Microsoft platforms, these upgrades deliver greater visibility and analysis of job operations, and include many features recommended by customers.
The releases include new versions or updates to:
- NeoBatch, the batch migration solution for bringing mainframe JCL to the Windows/.NET environment. NeoBatch lowers enterprise operating expenses by leveraging Windows-based hardware and software;
- NeoKicks, which provides a wizard that takes CICS COBOL programs and associated BMS maps, converts them to the .NET-compatible forms, and populates a Visual Studio project for building and testing migrated code; and,
- NeoServices, a Windows-based system for service-enabling mainframe business logic and integrating with modern application and web environments.
“Enterprises evaluating whether to move off the mainframe tell us they are concerned about whether they will have the same quality of operational information they’ve been receiving – information that helps them manage their day-to-day operations and future growth plans,” said Ron Langer, general manager for Alchemy Solutions. “In this release of NeoKicks and NeoBatch, we take advantage of increased Windows management functionality, like the System Center Operations Manager, which allows customers to monitor their IT services and react to operational problems.”
NeoBatch, which executes mainframe batch JCL on Windows, widens the information avenue by providing: SQL Server Report Services templates on job execution statistics and a Microsoft SCOM management pack. NeoBatch stores all job execution data in SQL Server, making it easier for users to analyze execution information and greatly expands their monitoring and reporting abilities. Another modernizing move is the ability to generate PowerShell scripts to replace the JCL, thereby enabling companies to move their batch jobs fully into the .NET environment. NeoBatch V3 also supports Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, keeping up-to-date with the latest Windows releases.
NeoKicks, the tool for migrating CICS applications to the .NET environment, also adds a SCOM management pack, along with easy ways of adding new controls to the migrated CICS screens. “NeoKicks developers continue to see productivity gains from using the best development environment available today,” said Basim Kadhim, chief technology officer for Alchemy Solutions. “Visual Studio 2010 brings many great enhancements, and the NeoKicks team has worked with the earliest releases of Visual Studio 2010 to maintain the close integration that makes NeoKicks so easy to use.”
The update to NeoServices, the rapid Web service enablement tool, adds support for Java Server and Windows .NET delegates, BMS map groups, and a number of usability-enhancing details. A high-performance, secure integration solution, NeoServices gives enterprises the ability to service-enable existing mainframe, as well as NeoKicks-based business logic, with no code changes.
