27th May 2010 - Across Systems, provider of the world’s leading independent linguistic supply chain technology, has announced that it is expanding its highly successful European operations into the UK. The language technology specialist has already won a major contract with a well known global multi-brand car manufacturer and looks to build on this success quickly.
A recent study by the Aberdeen Group sponsored by Across Systems called Translating Product Documentation * reveals that companies that are most successful in managing their translation and localisation efforts, maintain lower costs, are more efficient, and produce higher quality work than their competitors. These companies, known as ‘Best-in-Class companies’, save substantially over their competitors in translation expenses and make even greater savings in their localisation costs. They reduce the time required to complete translation projects by 30 percent and translate content into 48 percent more languages than their competitors.
“Our research clearly demonstrates that top companies, focused on ROI, effectively manage time and expenses involved with translation and localisation projects,” said David Houlihan, senior research associate with Aberdeen’s Product Innovation and Engineering practice. “We found that leading companies utilise integrated translation environments and realise performance improvements more than three times those achieved by their competitors. This high level of productivity comes with no sacrifice to the quality of work either.”
Across Systems is the manufacturer of the Across Language Server, a central software platform for all corporate language resources and for controlling translation processes and workflows. The system simplifies, accelerates, and improves the management, coordination, and implementation of translations. The software includes a translation memory, a linguistic and terminology system, and powerful project management and translation workflow control tools. Product managers, translators, and proofreaders all work in one system, either in-house or via a seamless connection to translation service providers.
“Our target audience includes all who offer or commission professional translations, such as export-oriented medium-sized enterprises, language service departments of international corporations, and professional translation service providers,” said Phill Barratt, Business Development Manager, Across Systems. “By using Across, translation costs can be cut drastically, and the investment in Across usually pays off over a very short period.”
Wasting no time, Across is also collaborating with industry veterans and research luminaries as well as MultiLingual Computing Magazine for an exclusive free of charge Webinar series** starting in May. These educational Webinars offered to all professionals dealing with or interested in globalisation and localisation, concentrate on the latest global developments and convergent technologies, using case studies as proven examples.
