Flexion wrapper to enable users to Try & Buy pre-loaded content on ALCATEL handsets
London, June 10th 2010: Accumulate’s Flexion wrapper has won another global deal and will be used to allow subscribers to Try & Buy pre-loaded content across the range of ALCATEL mobile phones from TCT Mobile. TCT Mobile will launch the Flexion wrapper in its first ALCATEL Android handset, the OT-980.
By wrapping games and preloading them on their handsets, TCT Mobile allows consumers to play them for free, before deciding whether to make a purchase. For consumers this means that they get the full experience by playing the ‘full’ game and not a stand-alone demo.
For the device manufacturers, such as TCT Mobile, as well as operators, retailers and publishers, the Flexion wrapper provides the ability to maximise distribution, penetration and ARPU from mobile games and apps. For the publishers especially, it means that they don’t have the expense of creating and testing multiple versions.
“We wanted to provide our customers with the best experience, but also create more revenues for our operator and publishing partners as well,” said Emmanuel Lambert, EMEA Technical Director at TCT Mobile. “Using the Flexion wrapper’s Try & Buy service for the pre-loaded content we put on our new handsets will do just that. The agnostic approach that Accumulate has taken means that we can wrap both Java and Android content.”
Accumulate announced that it was the first company to provide an Android wrapper at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February of this year.
“This is another significant global deal for us and confirms the movement from many in the industry to remove the old-fashioned demo,” said Jens Lauritzson, MD of Accumulate UK. “More and more people are looking to wrap content, giving customers a better experience and making more money for the industry.”
By using Flexion, revenues from mobile games can be dramatically increased. This is especially true in markets that are predominantly pre-pay and where many content transactions fail due to low credit. The Flexion wrapper offers a variety of retail options that can increase spend and if the application is not pre-loaded then users can download wrapped applications onto their handsets before purchase, regardless of the available credit.
Flexion provides a full retail experience for mobile games and apps and gives operators, device manufacturers, retailers and publishers the ability to maximise distribution, penetration and ARPU. Rather than having to create multiple demos or variant price versions of the same content, Flexion allows the full version to be pre-loaded or downloaded and then a range of purchasing options can be presented. All Flexion enabled games or applications also include a fully dynamic shop front allowing for further up-selling of content.
TCT Mobile is the second device manufacturer to choose Flexion for preloaded games in its range of ALCATEL branded handsets, following the announcement last year that Sony Ericsson will use it globally.
