Oculus is the first “design launch” of Schöpfer Yachts LLC. This 250-foot vessel was designed by E. Kevin Schöpfer, founder and owner of his namesake company. Designed to accommodate 12 guests in extraordinary comfort and style, Oculus is a long distance cruising yacht capable of speeds upwards of 25 knots.

The exterior styling is representative of the jaw and eye socket bone structure of large oceanic fish and mammals. Featuring a dramatic reverse bow configuration, the yacht’s armature balances an elegant expression of symmetry and structure.

In addition to the bow, Oculus also features a "low rider profile". This slightly lowered surface allows for new side recreational areas, alternate dockage access and light cruising openness. Lateral retractable side panels close this area when heavier wave action is indicated. The interior features of Oculus focus on a 12 foot high ceiling in the main salon, a cylindrical double height dining room, central stair and elevator tube, and seemingly anatomical ceiling and floor lighting extensions giving definition to the seating areas. The second level is the dedicated Owner's suite.' The Oculus certainly is one unique yacht.

Remember when Joey and Chandler from Friends started a foosball craze in the 90s? This new product could well mark a revival of the game and attract a league of new players and also be a hit with those who are already passionate about a bit of table football with the gang.

'11' is a new table designed by GRO design and developed by TIM model makers. It is due to be exhibited for the first time at Milan Design Week later this month.

The thought behind the design was to reflect the many football stadiums built in recent years that are architecturally stunning, have become landmarks and represent the spirit and passion of the game. If the stadiums are becoming so spectacular, then why shouldn't the foosball tables?

Much thought and care has gone into the craftsmanship and concept. The 22 players are finished in bright silver chrome that represents footballers' status in sport and society. The lighting effects and the software controlling the game add further excitement to the atmosphere and to the experience of playing the game.

And now that we have whet your appetite and you have your credit cards ready, we must give you the bad news. For now, only one prototype model exists . However, it will not surprise us if they end up being manufactured very, very soon by the hundreds.

1480  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno Images / General Dynamics GoBook MR-1 on: March 15, 2009, 09:34:57 AM

Forget what you’ve heard about those Panasonic Toughbooks or even what Lenovo claims their Thinkpads are capable of. If you need a laptop that will take a licking and keep on ticking processing you need to buy it from a company that also builds tanks. The just launched GoBook MR-1 from General Dynamics is about 1/4 the size of a regular laptop and is built to military specifications.

That means it’s dust and rain resistant, is designed for all weather conditions and can even survive 26 drops from a height of 3 feet as per military standard 810F. After drop 27 you’re going to have to try and convince General Dynamics tech support that the thing ‘just stopped working for no reason.’

Inside the MR-1’s small form factor (4.5 inches x 6.1 inches x 1.4 inches) you’ll find a 1.2 GHz Intel Core Solo U1400 processor, up to a 6 hour battery, 80GB solid state hard drive, 1 GB of ram as well as wifi, bluetooth and GPS. It also includes a touch screen with DynaVue technology making the display completely readable even in direct sunlight.

The GoBook MR-1 should be officially available sometime in September of this year starting around $4,500. And I assume it comes with a pretty good warranty too.
1481  THE TECHNO CLUB [ TECHNOWORLDINC.COM ] / Techno Images / Intel Debuts 0.7 Inch Thick Notebook on: March 15, 2009, 09:25:18 AM

Portability is part and parcel of any good notebook. Manufacturers had tried over the years to reduce the weight, thickness and size of notebooks just to make it more portable. Intel has come up with their latest wonder and it promises the thinnest notebook the world has ever seen. It is just 0.7 inches thick and weighs 2.25 pounds. It is much thinner than some of the mobiles and PDAs in the market. Although this is just a prototype, there are speculations going on that it might enter the production stage soon this year. Once it is marketed, this notebook will pose a serious threat to other notebook manufacturers like Dell and HP.
