This image explains, one of the budding hacking gang in orkut, and the guy is listing the communities to be deleted. He will just trick any moderator or the owner of the community with a fake account and get what he wants. You can just pray your community is not listed. Scary? Yes but that's the truth. The everyday requests to get a community back, and this is one of the many places where the plan is set.



What Urges an hacker to hack your Account/Community?


I have been with hackers for a while now, and have read their minds quite well. Something, which is killing them inside to hack an account/community are explained below:


->> Craze:

A new/budding hacker always has an aim to make his mark on Orkut. They just try to peel off a community with a few thousand members to show off the fellow hackers that they deserve some respect

->> Personal Grudges:

"Never Ever Mess With an Hacker" they are too bad at taking it in a healthy way. I would even advise you to maintain some distance from them. Even friendship with them is not that safe. So, in most of the cases, personal grudges holds the most percentage being the reason they hack.

->> Huge User Community:

A huge user community is one delicious prey of an hacker.They love to hack the big ones and then, just place a cookie stealing script/link as a topic and wait for the some in that many users to fall a prey to them yet again.


What Gifts Your Community/Account To the Hacker?

The most shocking and most applaud-able form of hacking a community/account .To be frank, i never thought that a Link could transfer your e-mail id and password or your cookies to the hacker.But a very good hacker can design a link which when clicked, can transfer your login details and cookies to him.

So "Never Click" on a Link which you feel is suspicious or you received form an unknown source.

"Run this script and see what happens" . You must have read this line many a times,but the only thing it'll do is transfer/send your "cookie" to the hackers scrapbook or email address.


What Happens When a Hacker Has Your Cookie?

Being myself an hacker (budding though - non destructive) i can just give you an fake idea what kind of destruction an hacker can cause if he has your cookie.Though i can't explain you the method because it's very dangerous to share, but what i can tell you is a hacker can log in to your orkut account "Without your Username and password" and cause a destruction you can just imagine.



->> Greasemonkey Scripts/Addons:

"Install this script and you can have a medal in your profile, or Profile like Orkut Certified Person". If you read this line, and it's from an untrusted source or even from a friend who has no knowledge of these things then Please Never Install Such Addons/Scripts. This will do the same, transfer your log-in details and cookies.

->> Fake Login Page:

This is one simple trap to get your log-in details. A fake login page, you must understand is having a url which is NOT www.orkut.com .The hacker may trick you by sending a scrap from a fake profile and urging you to login in that fake page by lusting you with additional features for your community or profile.

Important to Note: The URL of the fake page can easily be hidden by the hacker by reducing it to a short url like www.tinyurl.com/xxxxxx . If you see this kind of link, then make sure it's a no-no for you. Don't even click on it.
