Title: Libraries gain tools to help students’ endeavors - Venice Buhain, The Olympian Post by: Mark David on June 01, 2007, 08:11:04 PM Annika Carow’s research on the history of aviation started with Wikipedia — an online resource that can be edited by anybody with Internet access — but it wasn’t going to end there. “If I use something from Wikipedia, I like to check it on another site,” said Carow, 16, a junior at North Thurston High School. “Once I used information without checking, and it turned out to be wrong.” Students have become savvy about using high-tech resources in school libraries, and libraries are evolving by finding more room for computers, allowing students to borrow laptops and purchasing equipment students might not be able or a have a need to buy — such as digital video cameras and graphic calculators.
