What do you do when a student wants to learn something, but it’s unavailable as a course? What do you do when scheduling causes a student to miss courses? One answer is Distance Learning. And on Monday morning, Senator Lowell Barron met with members of the faculty and staff of both Northeast Community College and the DeKalb County Technology Center to discuss the establishment of such a program. Distance Learning uses technology to connect a teacher in a central location to students in various locations through audio and video connections. This allows smaller schools and smaller school systems the opportunity to offer courses they might otherwise be unable to afford, unable to schedule, or unable to find qualified teachers to teach.
