One million domain names have been registered in Famous Four Media’s registries

Tuesday, 13 October 2015, Gibraltar: Famous Four Media, a global leader in the provision of generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs), today announced that is has passed one million domain name registrations.

“They always say the first million is the hardest,” exclaimed a delighted Geir Rasmussen, CEO of Famous Four Media. “It has taken us five years of preparation and hard work but I am over the moon to announce that Famous Four Media’s registries have over 1 million domain names in them.”

Famous Four Media was one of the first participants in ICANN’s new gTLD program, a fundamental shake up of the domain name industry, where now internet users can choose from nearly 1000 different descriptive domain endings to make up their website address.

“It is a testament to the growing success of ICANN’s new gTLD program that Famous Four Media has reached this milestone in just over a year following the launch of its first Top Level Domains, .BID, .TRADE and .WEBCAM,” continued Rasmussen. “Nearly 1 in every 7 new gTLD web addresses registered, since the program launched in 2013, is one of ours. We now have 15 domain endings live with more to come in 2016. We are looking forward seeing how our domain endings will change the Internet in the future and to the many creative ways in which Internet users will develop them.”

Famous Four Media managed registries comprise 15 new gTLD extensions including .SCIENCE, .PARTY, .REVIEW and .DOWNLOAD. Domain names can be registered through Famous Four Media’s network of ICANN accredited registrars.
