Now into its ninth year, and with even more sessions scheduled, the Market Focus looks set to be a main focal point of the show and a popular platform to gain industry knowledge and insight into the latest technologies available.

Mass-Market Broadband Access, Datacenters: Optics in Cloud Computing, Service Provider Optical Transmission, Optical Network Agility / SDN, Photonic Integration and Digital Silicon Photonics, and Packet Optical Transport are the key topics for this year’s Market Focus. Twenty eight sessions are planned from the global leaders within the optical industry to discuss the key issues facing the market. With returning sponsor, Inphi the Market Focus sessions are set to form a hub of discussion at this year’s ECOC exhibition.

“This year’s Market Focus is set to be even bigger than last year. Along with returning sponsor Inphi, we are welcoming back a whole host of global leaders within the industry to share their expert knowledge and insights within the sessions,” said Beverly Lucas, Group Event Manager for Nexus Business Media Ltd, organisers of the ECOC exhibition. “With the show almost at a sell-out position, Market Focus will, as always, be a big attraction for our guests.”

Victor Lopez Alvarez from Telefonica will kick off the afternoon of day two leading the Optical network agility / SDN session to discuss Dynamism in the Optical Layer. Victor’s talk will present use cases where dynamism is important for network operators. Dirk van den Borne from Juniper Networks will then take to the stage to formulate a discussion around Carrier SDN: centralized traffic engineering in multi-layer networks, outlining how carrier SDN platforms are quickly becoming a key differentiator to build network architectures that can achieve the programmability and agility necessary in tomorrow’s service provider networks.

The finale of Market Focus, on Wednesday 30th September will tackle Photonic integration and digital silicon photonics, kicking off at 10.20am with presentations from Ovum, Oclaro, Lightcounting Market Research and VLC Photonics S.L. Further presentations include Teraxion who will address photonics integration and digital silicon photonics platforms for the target application, ran by Martin Guy, CTO and Strategy Marketing at Teraxion.
