FAIRFAX, VA, USA AND LEATHERHEAD, UK – 3 MARCH 2015 – TEOCO, the leading provider of planning, assurance, analytics and optimization solutions to Communications Service Providers (CSPs) worldwide, today announced the launch of two new additions to its planning portfolio: ASSET Geo and Velox. The two new planning tools were developed in response to the ever-growing demand for additional, cost effective network coverage and capacity.

ASSET Geo allows planning engineers to visualize geo-located traffic and performance data within ASSET. This increases the precision with which they can place new sites for capacity offload or to solve network performance issues, ensuring every new site planned delivers maximum return on investment. The maps not only allow highly accurate placement of new sites but also the analysis of specific services or bearers allowing a planning engineer to design for specific usage and not just traffic volume.

With many CSP’s turning to small cells to address the capacity demands of their customers, the question, “where should I deploy small cells for maximum impact” is becoming much more common. Planning small cells is a huge task but with an excellent traffic dataset and well-defined performance and business criteria on which to base the plan, automation is an obvious solution.

To address this, TEOCO created Velox, a purpose built solution for small cell planning, optimized for speed and the evaluation of thousands of small cell candidates concurrently. Velox leverages geo-located traffic maps to determine an optimal radio design, and uniquely, is also able to determine the backhaul requirements for small cell candidate locations. By assessing the performance of the radio and the backhaul as well as the site build and backhaul costs for each candidate location during the design optimization process, Velox is able to determine the optimal design, balancing both cost and performance.

“There is a growing pressure on network planning engineers to drive optimal efficiency from the network,” says Daniel Ramirez, Director of Planning Products at TEOCO. “Leveraging the full capabilities of geo-located traffic and associated performance maps available through ASSET Geo will ensure that every new site is planned to deliver optimal impact and ROI. For TEOCO, small cell planning is a new category in our portfolio. Velox, with its multi-domain cross-functional approach, will enable engineers to plan thousands of small cells and perfect network design.”
