Arqiva is to support South Asian broadcaster Star in their launch of the UK’s first South Asian high definition channel. The Star Plus HD Channel will be uplinked onto satellite capacity on Arqiva’s dedicated HD platform on Eurobird 1. This will enable subscribers on BSkyB to enjoy Star Plus HD, the world's most watched Hindi entertainment channel.

John Bozza, Director of Sales at Arqiva, said: “Arqiva already provides satellite distribution services for four of Star’s channels and we are delighted to be expanding our relationship by supporting their move into HD broadcasting. With our extensive expertise in launching TV channels and our dedicated HD platform we were able to facilitate the fast launch required by Star. We wish the channel every success.”

Rajan Singh, Head of International Business at Star, added: “The pace of innovation at Star UK has been phenomenal and Arqiva has proved to be a great technical partner. Working with us closely to evolve our business Arqiva has delivered speedy and innovative solutions to support our growth. With the UK launch of Star Plus HD we are delighting viewers and advertisers alike with an unmatched and exciting viewing experience - and Arqiva was our first choice of technical partner for this new service.”
