John Hunter Hospital (NSW) to deploy renal point of care data warehouse

3rd July, 2012 – Ascribe is pleased to announce that it’s Consulting team has been selected by John Hunter Hospital’s (JHH) Renal Department to develop data warehouse and business intelligence capabilities to improve their business and clinical decision making.  Ascribe will work with JHH to address the issues surrounding the extraction and use of clinical and administrative data from the Ascribe TRANSNET renal point of care system the department deploys across the region.

The implementation of a TRANSNET-based data warehouse will enable the renal department to:

- Complete complex analysis quickly and easily through an intuitive user interface
- Automate the production of routine information to make it more efficient
- Extract data to support R&D activity aimed at improving clinical outcomes
- Submit more complex queries to better understand the progress of patients through the care process

This will deliver substantial benefits in improving patient safety and clinical quality, maximising revenues, controlling costs and improving the process by which information is generated and shared.

Ascribe Consulting’s Business Intelligence Portals are based upon the Microsoft® toolset which comprises SQL®, SharePoint®, Office® and BingMaps® and is supported by its award winning data warehouses.

Dr Paul Trevillian, Senior Staff Nephrologist and Director of Transplantation at JHH said, “When hospitals invest a lot of money in a point of care system, they want to derive maximum benefit from it.  By building our data warehousing and business intelligence capabilities through Ascribe, we will be able to complete complex analysis within the TRANSNET database quickly and easily to address the issues facing our staff.”

Stephen Critchlow, Ascribe CEO, is delighted that JHH, its flagship TRANSNET site, is also the first to benefit from Ascribe’s BI expertise in Australia.  “Ascribe built its Consulting division specifically to help our customers leverage the best return on their investment in point of care systems.  We’re very pleased to work with John Hunter to assist them in gaining a coherent insight to their patient, clinical and managerial needs.”
