Chasing youth is a national pastime. Underdeveloped pencil-thin Supermodels, barely of age, walk runways setting the standard of youth for all the 30-somethings and beyond. Something doesn't quite add up. What happened to the culture of aging gracefully? How did teens become the standard of beauty for women of all ages?
Perhaps comedian, George Carlin, says it best: "If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. 'How old are you?' 'I'm four and a half!' You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! Soon you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60. You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70!'
But the real key to aging gracefully is to accept the inevitability of aging. We can't do anything about the aging process, but we can do a lot about remaining healthy as we get older by eating right, maintaining good {a href="

1. Avoid anti-aging serums and quick fixes. They usually don't work and often do more harm than good.
2. Don't pretend that you've halted the aging process. That's an unrealistic and unhealthy attitude.
3. Maintain good skin care habits. Avoid dry skin by keeping skin properly hydrated and moisturized by using a quality shielding lotion.
4. Eat healthy, but avoid extreme fad diets. A good rule of thumb - all things in moderation.
5. Breathe deeply. Breathing exercises help get the blood flowing, relax the body and center the soul.
6. Get moving. Even moderate exercise if done regularly can abate years of bad habits.
7. Make healthy choices. Whether it's diet, exercise or spiritual well-being, choose the things that are in your highest good.
8. Surround yourself with positive people. If you let others bring you down, you will soon find yourself in the company of their misery on a regular basis.
9. Stay active. Studies have shown that the one thing most centenarians have in common is they kept active in society. The key to staying active is to always have your mind, body, heart and soul engaged in some social activity that you enjoy. Be it work, be it volunteering, or just doing things in life that make a difference in the world, you will stay active and won't have a reason to slow down.
10. Get plenty of rest. The body heals itself during sleep.
11. Change your outlook on life and take the time to enjoy it. Don't worry, Be Happy!
Maintaining a healthy attitude about aging doesn't have to be hard, but it shouldn't be ignored. Avoid aged dry skin by always moisturizing with a quality shielding lotion, and heed the tips of your wiser seniors - stay positive!
