The IdeaPad Y550 features a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and up to 4GB DDR3 memory and up to 250GB hard drive also an integrated dual-layer DVD burner. The base model has The 15.6" widescreen display features a 16:9 aspect ratio. Multimedia options include NVIDIA GFX graphics and Dolby surround sound.

Lenovo's Desktop Navigator shortcut bar performs most basic multimedia controls on all Y550 variants, and a six-cell battery powers them all. The range-topper uses a 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive.
