UK cloud security company saves email system for retailer’s North American market
UK cloud security company Westcoastcloud came to the rescue of a business in California, USA, last weekend after it lost the entire email system for its North American market.
I/OMagic Corporation lost all connectivity to its Exchange server during a move into new offices in Irvine, CA on Friday 10 August. This left the employee’s 50 mailboxes offline with no prospect of connectivity being restored for at least week.
I/O Magic sells market-leading consumer electronic products including Portable Battery Packs, High Definition Multimedia Interface, Bluetooth and non-electronic accessories and components for tablets and smartphones throughout the North American market under its I/OMagic® and Digital Research Technologies® brand names.
Drew Robinson, IT Manager of I/O Magic, said: “This really was a disaster in the making because of the thousands of emails we receive and send out every day to customers all over the US. Westcoastcloud really did come to the rescue. Despite it being night time in the UK their Disaster Recovery team managed to archive all our emails and then put together a business mail, archiving and email filtering service so that as of Monday we were back on email and back in business.”
Marc Kelly, Head of Channel for Westcoastcloud, said: “I/O Magic uses Westcoastcloud’s web filtering product Netintelligence for its mail filtering and as a result we were able to react quickly and capture emails when the Exchange server went down. Our Disaster recovery team worked through the weekend to restore the company’s vital email services showing the benefit of our round-the-clock mission critical technical support.”
