…Demanding discovery processes require the best people asserts APT Search…

LONDON – Thursday 2nd August 2012 – APT Search, the UK’s first recruitment specialists fully dedicated to the eDiscovery and Litigation Support sectors, has published a whitepaper that provides an overview of the eDiscovery market in the UK and the effect that it is having on the recruitment market. The whitepaper entitled, “Bridging the eDiscovery Skills gap” is targeted at law firms, consultancies and software vendors and offers valuable advice for both employers and potential candidates on how to maximise their business and employment opportunities.

The demand for eDiscovery skills has been accelerated by greater regulations, industry governance and increased public financial penalties. According to Gartner Group*, the eDiscovery market is set to grow by 14% per annum over the next four-to-five years.

Amit Pandit, Managing Director at APT Search comments, “Organisations are looking to prepare themselves for better times ahead, whilst defending existing market share and managing potential risks. Consequently, the demand for eDiscovery professionals is strong in the UK, with salary levels continuing to rise. Furthermore, these changes in the market are creating new opportunities for people not only in traditional positions, but also creating roles that did not exist before.  As a result employers and candidates need an open mind about how their skills can be deployed within an organisation.”

Some key findings from the APT Search whitepaper include:

- There is demand for high quality Business Developers with relevant experience and understanding of the EDRM model – figures show a significant growth through 2011 and in to the first half of 2012.

- Vendors and Consultancies are hiring and training high calibre candidates that have transferrable skills to help meet demands in the absence of direct eDisclosure skills.

- Business development base salaries are continuing to increase, due to the increased competition to hire well networked eDiscovery sales people at mid-senior level hires that can potentially bring an array of clients to the business.

- The demand for Project Managers has grown for those certified in Project Management certifications such Prince2.  Although some companies do not seek them as a pre-requisite, it can enhance candidate opportunities.

- The eDiscovery industry is developing rapidly in parts of continental Europe, creating opportunities here while also driving the need for language skills – especially German, French, Italian and Dutch.
