Build A Successful Business By Staying Connected
« Posted: October 23, 2007, 04:19:39 PM »

Stay connected using your phone.

Have a cell phone, keep it charged and use it. Sometimes you don't want to look at, think about or pick up that lead pipe, but believe me, it will make or break your business. Thinking you will call someone later, after thinking about them and not picking up incoming phone calls are two dooms to disaster, your whole success in business will be based on your ability and motivation to pick up the phone and use it as your most resourceful to tool success, stay connected to people using your phone.

Email is too good to be true.

Email is fast, free, convenient, personal and non-chalant. It is fast, one of the fastest means of communication. I send a message faster than you can pick up the phone, dial, let it ring, and get a real person on the other end. Literally in the blink of an eye, I can send a message anywhere in the world for free! It is also one of the most convenient means of communication, this power tool can be found in cafes, libraries, living rooms, offices, everywhere, anywhere a computer is and we both know we are surrounded by computers everywhere. It is personal because you really feel like you are getting to know the other person. I have had times where I email back and forth with someone a few times, finally make contact by phone and when we talk, it feels like we are old buddies sitting down for a beer! It is also non-chalant, which means that you don't have to be formal, just a question or short response is necessary sometimes. Use email to build relationships and stay connected.

Use Instant Messengers

Instant Messengers are a quick and easy way to stay connected. Instant messengers are computer software that connects directly with other computers using a downloaded software. Like email it is fast, free, convenient, personal and non-chalant, but the difference is, you are both connected online at the same time. It is like me calling my friend and telling him to go to his email box and hit receive, than he replies and sends, I read it and send, but at the end, both our Inboxes would be filled will a lot of unnecessary messages. Instead with instant messenger, you are always connected to the service when you are online and choose to talk with people. If you are online and your friend is online, you can 'hit them up' (slang for saying hi) on messenger and you can start an instant conversation of short messages that you type. Pretty cool. I use instant messengers for personal and business use. For personal, to talk with friends quickly and easily, and business because it is quick and easy. Basically, I like instant messengers because they are a quick and easy way to stay connected. You will too!

Cell Phone Text Messages

Young people nowadays are pretty hip to text messages, but professional, business people should be to. 'Textin' is really a simple task and you can blast a short text message to everyone in your phone book at the click of a button. A few years ago in college, I was a musician and used to get 'texts' from people all night long on friday and saturday night to come check out their bands play. Then after college one of my tech savvy friends own a multimedia event company. He is a very connected person and his cell phone is filled with my great numbers....people. Every time now that he puts on an event, and believe me, his events are always awesome and he uses a body painter to paint beautiful women, his shows are the bomb...he sends out a 'text' with a few clicks of the buttons and 'bham!' tons of people all over the city of Chicago are notified and his response rates are tremendous when he does this. Probably 2-3 times more people show up when he does this. Combine this with an email blast and you are ready to party!

Start Blogging and Don't Stop

You have probably heard all the hype lately about blogging. Blogging is one of the very best ways to stay connected in the digital age. A blog is a website where you write stuff and anyone can read it. Many businesses use blogs to keep their customers and investors up-to-date with all the latest news and events. Normal people use them also to write about their lives, products, ideas, experiences, etc. The place to go to start your own blog for free is Blogger.com, which is owned by Google. Sign up and start a blog for your business, link to it on your website and in your emails and most of all get personal. Many people recently are turning to searching blogs as opposed to search engines for information. Search engines have become so manipulated by people trying to get higher rankings, while blogs is an alternative that give you a different source of information, something personal and untainted. Start your blog and you will see how amazing it can be to have an outlet like this for your business to stay connected.
