-Software-as-a-Service Learning and Performance Management Solution Streamlines Workforce and Career Planning for Global Company-

Slough, UK: 16 July 2009 - SumTotal® Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUMT), the market leader and a global provider of talent development solutions, today announced that Avanade, a global business technology service provider has selected SumTotal Systems' ResultsOnDemand Talent Development Suite.  Using SumTotal, Avanade expects increased operational efficiency in its performance/talent management process.

With more than 8,600 professionals in more than 20 countries worldwide, one of the primary challenges Avanade faced was a manual and decentralised performance management process that required heavy administrative support. By process automation using a user-friendly tool Avanade hopes to free up and provide more time to its employees who are focused on realising results for their customers.

To streamline and centralise its talent management processes, Avanade chose the SumTotal ResultsOnDemand Talent Development Suite, a comprehensive SaaS solution that integrates learning and performance for true talent development. During phase one of its implementation Avanade will roll out goal management, performance appraisals, multi-rater/360 degree feedback, career and succession planning. Avanade is also taking advantage of 11 languages offered by SumTotal to unify its global workforce on one platform.

"The SumTotal solution will provide us better real time analysis of our team's capabilities and help us streamline the feedback process. Ultimately contributing to our ability to accelerate the development of our employee's skills and advancement of their career," said Sam Kanner, Director of Organisational Development at Avanade.

As to why Avanade chose the SumTotal ResultsOnDemand Talent Development Suite, Kanner said, "It came down to a combination of meeting our core requirements, relationship and overall value."
