Jimmy Choo and vc-net win ‘Private Sector Project of the Year’ at Computing Awards for Excellence

Recognised for its successful implementation of a global collaboration platform, including a high-performance MPLS network, video conferencing facilities and VoIP telephony.

London, UK, 22 November 2007 - vc-net, the collaboration company, is today delighted to announce that its project with Jimmy Choo, the world-famous luxury accessories brand, won ‘Private Sector Project of the Year’ at the Computing Awards for Excellence. The awards recognise excellence and exceptional performance in IT strategy, and Jimmy Choo was selected from a record number of entries.

“Jimmy Choo is a worthy winner, they worked hard to make a big impact on the top and bottom line of their global organisation and we’re delighted that this has been recognised by such a prestigious line-up of judges and against such prestigious competition,” said Dan Somers, Managing Director for vc-net.

Somers explained: “This project was inspirational to be involved with. Their IT Manager had a vision of what he wanted to achieve and our job was to advise, and then implement the appropriate technologies, applications and infrastructure that would deliver a significant RoI whilst creating a platform capable of supporting a leading retail organisation undergoing enormous organic growth. We knew that IT had to be one step ahead of the commercial operation, and with their new infrastructure Jimmy Choo can now get a new boutique up and running much faster, considerably speeding up their time to market and getting closer to where their customers are.”

vc-net helped Jimmy Choo find and implement the right components for its high-performance multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) network to provide consistency throughout the organisation. The company also installed the high-definition videoconferencing facilities that Jimmy Choo runs between its main offices across Europe and the US, as well as VoIP telephony to help decrease internal call costs.

“The change to the business is nothing less than fantastic! Seeing the faces of people completely changes the relationship and the high level of collaboration achieved has significantly improved our internal processes,” said a spokesperson for Jimmy Choo. “To be awarded ‘Private Sector Project of the Year’ is really a huge accolade and a pivotal moment in our global IT strategy. We are proud of our achievements partnering with vc-net and look forward to the challenges ahead.”
