Momail and Ariadne Capital partner to bring Momail into the UK
« Posted: November 15, 2007, 04:02:46 PM »

Ariadne adds Momail, the popular mobile email service, to its stable of top communications applications which it has helped bring to market over its 7 year history: Skype, SpinVox, Monitise, and Intamac

London, UK – November 15, 2007. Today Momail launches its award-winning, popular mobile email service in the UK, and announces its partnership with Ariadne Capital, the London-based investment and advisory firm.

Momail’s mobile email service is free. Registration may be done via the mobile or via Internet on www.momail.co.uk.   It takes less than two minutes to set up a Momail account and is as easy as SMS to use.

“Ariadne signed up to help bring Momail into the UK market due to our 10 year relationship with Johan Stael von Holstein, the founder of iQube, a leading Swedish investment firm in high-growth start-ups out of the Nordic region.  iQube is a backer of Momail,” said Julie Meyer, CEO of Ariadne Capital.    “We believe Momail is the biggest step change in email since Hotmail which was acquired by Microsoft 10 years ago.   Hotmail de-coupled email from a specific desktop or laptop and made it free; Momail continues that progress for the consumer – fitting their email to whatever phone they have.”

Momail does not require special clients or software in the mobile, thus minimizing download and installation problems.  This functionality also enables the service to work on the widest choice of devices on the market, today more than 950(!) different models just in Europe. Momail leverages the pre-installed email support platform within handsets (similar to SMS) which thus makes Momail easier to use than other available mobile email services.

From launch, Momail works on the newly introduced iPhone. To ease the set-up process for new purchasers of the iPhone, Momail has included a tutorial within the registration process to lead users through the Momail set-up.

”Getting the right partnership deals done fast to bring Momail to market is critical to establishing Momail as the mass-market standard in mobile email.    We were impressed with Ariadne’s trackrecord of working with early stage, high-growth companies with global aspirations like Skype, SpinVox, and Monitise who brought and are bringing game-changing consumer applications to market fast and with the right partners,” said Roger Grönberg, CEO of Momail.   “Ariadne gets the entrepreneurial clockspeed required to win.”

Availability and price

Momail is free of charge and works on all mobiles with built-in email support. The service is available in the UK and in all Nordic countries. From December onwards many more countries will be added, beginning with Poland and Germany. Free registration is available via the mobile or Internet at www.momail.co.uk.
