Those of you who have already read, "Another Million Dollar Dream" will know that the original draft of my novel, "The Workers", was lost when a friend downloaded a virus to my computer. To encourage myself to rewrite the story I set up YourBigHomepage.com, a pixel page, based on TheMillionDollarHomepage, which was so successful for Alex Tew. I don't know if I really expected to sell any pixels, although I certainly lived in the hope that the added value of the serialized novel may encourage a few sales. That was in February. Since then I've managed to upload a new chapter each month (two chapters in April) and I've just uploaded chapter ten, Ruby Wednesday.
As a new incentive I am now offering a share of the movie rights with each block of one hundred pixels. There are ten thousand blocks. If I sell the movie rights for one million dollars, everyone could their money back.
So far I've only sold a few blocks of pixels to friends and I've allowed them more space than they bought to try to give the page some interest. There are a few affiliate links too. Initially I put a lot of affiliate links on the page, but I've now removed most of them, keeping only those companies I do regular business with.
YourBigHomepage and The Workers has certainly not been the overnight success that TheMillionDollarHomepage or OneRedPaperclip (wanna swap a website for an apartment in Manhattan?) were. From a financial point of view they may never be successful. But, if I hadn't started the site, I would never have rewritten any of The Workers - I may never have written anything again - I just hope I can finish it.
The Little Man, The Animal, The Old Campaigner, The Doctor and Crazy Horse are some of "The Workers", characters in a violent, sexy, funny story from the London underworld of the 1970's. The Little Man, The Animal and The Old Campaigner carry a Peter off of The Cake. The Old Campaigner becomes The Foot. When they crack the Peter they discover a lot of money, a bag of Coke and a severed hand. The hand had once been attached to The Monk. They will soon find that Crazy Horse is on their trail and there's nowhere to hide.
