Slough, United Kingdom, 15th October 2007 – Ingres Corporation, the leading open source information management company for enterprise applications, today announced a strategic relationship with Business Objects, the world’s leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, in which Ingres will integrate its enterprise-grade open source database with the BusinessObjects Edge Series. BI Demand in the Mid-Market
While widely accepted as a mission-critical component for large enterprises, BI now has become critical to a successful growth strategy for mid-market companies. These companies – firms with less than $1 billion in revenue or fewer than 1,000 employees – realise that they can no longer afford to run their business on spreadsheets if they want compete in the global economy.
Underscoring this demand, a recent Gartner Group survey conducted at the Gartner Midsize Enterprise Summit 2007 in May found that BI applications topped the list of the “Top Ten Technology Priorities,” for Mid-Market CIO’s for two years in a row displacing security enhancement tools.
